michael.........i had a similiar thing happen to me and what seemed to 
help 
was raising the guitar neck, in fact the entire guitar, into a higher 
playing 
position......if you were standing, you would shorten the strap........the 
arm/angle relationship to the neck seemed to get rid of the stress, pull 
type 
feel.........this is really obvious, but it took me a long time to figure 
out........and now i can play really fast and really loud for longer 
periods 
of time...........:)..............try it, it may help............"im a
