I saw Tortoise live 2 years ago, and they would switch instruments fairly 
often - sometimes twice or three times in a song. The guitarist and 
drummer 
would switch places, or 3 instrumentalists would start playing marimbas, 
or 
something like that. They had 5 or 6 musicians on stage though, and no 
more 
than 3 would switch at a time. Still - it was pretty awesome to see them 
do 
that in the middle of the song. I was really impressed.
