Re: R: Off Topic-indulge me please

I'm 55-1/3 years old and have lived in Los Angeles with a violist for
the last 15 years. We have five cats. I have no human children of my
own, but I do have three nephews, three nieces, and another of the
latter on the way.

Most of my income comes from consulting for Level Control Systems, a
manufacturer of audio hardware and software for live sound control.
During prior phases I taught music technology at the college level,
developed custom MIDI software, worked for a non-profit foundation
researching multichannel audio, and toured with a singer performing
electroacoustic vocal music. If you look far enough back, I was a
singer/guitarist in various rock bands and also worked briefly as an
independent film maker.

I've been composing tape music since 1969 (in conjunction with film)
and performing electroacoustic music since 1975. My earliest "loopy"
performances were in Santa Cruz in 1976, using 4-track tape decks
threaded together. I started using live signal processing at the same
time and went digital in 1983 with the Lexicon, Eventide, and
Deltalabs processors of the time. Looping is just one of the things
I do with electronics. My preference has been to sample and process
other performers live, though my group of several years disbanded a
while back (though we have made several CDs from our live
recordings). I've recently picked up the guitar again and hope
eventually to play it in front of people.

After a frustrating attempt to make it as a rock musician, circa
1965-74 I am relatively content to be making music for its own sake,
and for the social interaction with my collaborators. Strangely
enough, our latest self-produced CD is getting favorable notice. Even
stranger, my rock band's 1968 LP is now a cult classic and has been
bootlegged in both vinyl and CD versions. There's also a legit
compilation containing one cut from that album. I suppose that after
I'm dead I'll actually become famous.
