Rick, my man - I appreciate your frustration with irrelevant subject 
lines (and I appologize for contributing to the problem) but I just 
don't get what someone who is pressed for time would ever subscribe 
to the digest form of a mailing list. My personal experience has been 
that digests waste more of my time than receiving single e-mails.

The way I manage it is to create a filter for each list I belong to. 
Then everything gets segregated into individual mailboxes, and the 
messages are all individually listed. If I want to follow a 
particular thread I simply sort the mailbox by Subject line and page 
my way through the messages. It beats the hell out of  opening each 
digest and scanning the entire text looking for subjects of interest.
