I was asking specifically about the Eclipse, since I'm trying to decide between that unit and the DSP 7000. But if I could get an Orville, I would.

Sorry. I scanned your message quickly and didn't notice "Eclipse" hiding among the references to DSP7000 and Orville.

If you don't need advanced looping capability and you don't need to design your own algorithms, then get the Eclipse. It's cheaper, smaller, and has higher audio quality than the DSP7000. Eclipse also gives you two effects engines. It does have looping, but only on a basic level. It does not have sampling.

I also believe that its user interface and external control architecture is more consistently set up than the 7000, and therefore should be quicker to learn and operate. I say this without an in-depth study of either device, but in general the older Eventides have been a bit ungainly compared to newer models.
