Help w/DD20-newbie begs

1. Wire up yer ol' DD20
2. Power up yer ol' DD20
3. Set it to the loop setting
4. Start playing, hit the left pedal, on the downbeat.
5. The loop begins 'looping' automatically after 23 secs, or when you hit
the left pedal again.

You are looping with the DD 20 now.

I am a looping dumbass (my stupidity plays over and over and over...)  
Would
someone be so kind as to offer a bare bones "how to"  for ways to do some
simple looping w/the DD20?
