For the least headaches in the realm of audio, I recommend Agnula
Linux, the DeMuDi flavor.  Agnula can be found at
<http://www.agnula.org>, while DeMuDi can be found at
<http://demudi.agnula.org>.  This is a distribution specifically
designed for audio saving you lots of setup grief.  Do yourself a
favor, though, and check before installing that all your hardware is
supported.  (See
<http://www.agnula.org/documentation/FAQ/index_html#hardware_prereq>
for help with this.)
