Re: UPDATE: Boise Experimental Music Festival / Dominated byLoopers?

Bravo Kris! This sounds like a bold thing to do anywhere. I never think of Boise as being a hub of experimental music, but oftentimes the greatest treasures artistically, are in unexpected places. Innovations ain't just for the coasts! Props to you for putting your heart where your art is! Tell us how it goes.

Subject: UPDATE: Boise Experimental Music Festival / Dominated by Loopers?

I'm forwarding you my latest update on the Boise Experimental Music Festival (BEMF), which I'm proud to say is TOTALLY dominated by loopers! Yeahhh!!!!  7 out of 12 acts are looping. So, this is really a clever way me to launch yet another looper's festival in the NW of the USA. :)  This event is really taking off...with seven major sponsors who have contributed either services or cold cash to support the event, a major 3/4 page ad on our local new paper, a giant venue (avant-garde art gallery, with a graphics arts installment on display) with a huge raised stage, lights, theater style seating, etc, ticket sales through our largest ticket sales venue, a local internet radio station streaming the whole thing to the web, for all of you to listen in, experimental film/videos and graphics art slideshows running during intermissions and during performances, a live performance art act, and an experimental music demonstration from an ensemble at our local university, and so on.

Hello all -

This is a sneak preview to my personal and professional email distribution list on the planning of the Boise Experimental Music Festival (BEMF). The next major communication will be the event's official press release in April. I will be working with the Visual Arts Collective to craft this press release and get it out to the media.

The bulk of the planning for the festival is now complete, which includes the following:

Date: April 28-29
Venue: The Visual Arts Collective art gallery (located in Boise's Linen District) - http://www.visualartscollective.com/
Event Description:

The Boise Experimental Music Festival (BEMF) is a first-of-its-kind event for Boise and the surrounding Treasure Valley. This program features twelve creative music performances that fall into the experimental, avant-garde, or free improvisation music genres.  The festival will provide a new and exciting experience to Boise’s music and art enthusiasts by bringing together a unique community of musicians and artists, integrating music performance with short experimental film and video, graphics art, and performance art. The Boise Experimental Music Festival will be held at the Visual Arts Collective gallery, Boise’s premiere venue for unique art forms that push the boundaries of imagination.
