no no man...I figured out what the problem was. Tempo sync has to be off 
for
EACH Phrase..I didn't see that in
the menu before...Problem solved...Now it's working like a charm with or
without the guide on...This is really a nice unit and very flexible. You
will not hate it, I can assure you. Just takes a few days to get into it 
and
understand it.
