Sound on Sound Dec 2006, in a review of the Focusrite Saffire Pro says 
that latency was "noticeably high, even with small buffer sizes", due to 
"Apple's own Firewire driver". They were hoping that a fix from Apple 
would be forthcoming, and made it clear that it wasn't a shortcoming 
specific to that unit.
