RE: Replacing a LED on the EDP

>>Anyone have any experience with this. I may be obtaining an EDP that
is said to have a Record LED that only lights up orange and red but
not green. I am thinking that the LED probably just needs to be
replaced. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement LED and
would putting the new one in be fairly easy?<<

well, to answer the second part first.... provided your soldering chops
are reasonable, & that you find the correct replacement & orientate it
properly (observing the flat on one side of the lens moulding), you should
be ok.
but this LED of yours is exhibiting some very odd behaviour, I think.....
the old three colour LEDs would be a combination red & green device with a
common cathode or anode (can't remember) & a connector each for the two
elements; individually operated, you'd get either red or green, while
running both together would produce yellowy-orange.

so how can the green not be working & yet you can still make orange?

I suppose if the green had failed completely & the driver was operating
the red at two distinct voltage levels (i.e. only half-on when the green
was supposed to be on aswell) you might see what appeared to be orange but
was in fact just dim-red.

dunno. does the rest of the thing work ok?
