Re: DD20 tap tempo input

Yes Murkie, the famous Tap Tempo mod on the Vortex is something I live by. As mentioned (many times in the archives) it is meant to be connected to the "beat Synch" on the EDP, and if you dont have one of those... I made a further mod to connect the morph (A/B) switch to the same output, which enables me to switch between the A and B patches, in sync to the EDP. But before I had the EDP I used a Kenton Pro Kadi box.

This obscure thing would turn Midi into trigger pulses for my modular synth and worked OK for synching the Vortex too. (as well as providing a SYNC 24 out - for ummm I forget now, but some OTHER obscure trigger system, original 808s and 303s maybe).

It maybe that this is what you are also looking for David...

One nice feature (that I no longer have with the EDP mod) was that it had a built in trigger divide ratio option, so you could get the A/B switching to happen VERY fast, like 1 per beat.

If anyone wants this box, you can contact me off list, going pretty cheap, or trade.

I was thinking of trying it out on the Vortex.

Subject: DD20 tap tempo input

Hi,

I really like my Boss DD20, but apart from its ability to (quite precisely) set the delay length it has no way to sync to the rest of the world...

It has a tap tempo button, though. Has anyone here tried to open the DD20 and to add a trigger input in parallel to the tap tempo button ?

If this was possible, a sync device that could output the required triggers at the appropriate rate would allow this looper to be synced to a midi clock (something like this could easily be done with an arduino for example). The same should be feasible with any device with a tap tempo button, by the way.

I haven't opened my DD20 yet, so any info would be greatly appreciated :).

Thanks,
