Re: Quickee Windows Laptop Looping advice sought from the Oldbies on this list

Im sure Per is right here, on the other hand, Hilde has had an Acer lappy for 4 years, and is still going strong, if you discount all the keys having being picked off by a certain 2 year old, and paint covered and broken bits where its been dropped. But the hard disk and OS are all working perfectly. Hilde mind you is a geek and fiddles constantly with the registry and deletes unwanted crap.
I cant comment on how manly a machine one would need for Bidule and co... but with an external sound card, I dont think its much of an issue. I saw an Acer laptop for 2500 kr here today, that about 480 dollars.. and at that price, you dont need it to last forever (if somewhat against my enviro side...)

Colleges have warned me that they crap out quickly. But that's not
only Acer, many pc manufacturer's low line cost models suffer from
this; ie a quality to be generally understood. One reason is that the
low cost models may be used to test new hardware parts (sort of guinea
pig model) to see if these parts can be trusted for using in more
expensive models.
