Re: Looperlative Questions

Just a couple of points..

If one uses an FCB-1010 floorboard with the LP-1, can a drum machine/sampler/sequencer be triggered on and off by programming one of the buttons on the floorboard? I know the two pedals onboard can be used as feedback control (0% to 100%) and volume control. Correct me if I’m wrong…

Theoretically yes.. but bare in mind that on the FCB one has to choose a midi channel per type of command you are sending. For example you can set CCs to be transmitted on midi chan 6 and Patch Ch on midi chan 7 and Midi notes on midi chan 8.... But if both devices need to use CC´s then you might have a problem, because both devices will have to be on the same midi channel, therfore they might use the same numbers for stuff. However... The LP1 can be made to learn whatever you want to control it (correct me if Im wrong here Bob) so, you can make sure its something other than what you need for your drum machine.

And can other MIDI devices be connected to work in conjunction with the drum machine and LP-1? Say, like my Lexicon MPX-110 and a Vortex, or any of the Eventide floor pedals like the ModFactor? Eclipse (rack mounted)?

Mostely you just need midi clock in these devices, midi clock is global, so if it has a cable plugged in.. it will work. But the Vortex has NO MIDI, so you wont be doing that there... there are ways to synchonise a Vortex... but they are clunky. (incidently.. does the LP1 hav a metronone sound, that can come out of a headphone socket or something... then you could sync the Vortex, using a couple of components... its in the archives.. I use this technique with the EDP)

Besides those questions, how difficult is the overall learning curve on the LP? I know some of you here have done quite well with it. I recall an article in Guitar Player said that he was up and running (perhaps with basic commands, rec, overdub, send, etc.) in a short time.

I dont know, but I heard its a doddle... I heard its more difficult to understand the manual than to actually do it...

Oh, yeh one more thing…can the LP-1 be compared to the upcoming Boomerang III in any way? Ease of use? Programmability? Functions?

I doubt the Boomerang comes close... Because the LP1 is just getting bigger and bigger... If I had one more child, I would sell it for medical research and buy one immediatlly... as it is I only have one son, and I'm rather attached to him...
