I don't own a EDP, but a Jamman and a Electrix Repeater, and with both 
loopers your suggestion would work like charm.

I don't know this, and - as mentioned: I'd definitely try to avoid 
optical signals for human tempo correction. It will annoy the drummer 
and the audience.
