This is a class of 12th grade (17 and 18 in age) using Reason and Protools for the very first time to arrange sound. Be gentle :-)

As far as I understood it, the concept was to appropriate, use and abuse via samples or melody, to not only teach music software, but to address that interesting subject. As such it would make complete sense to me that they should choose the most obvious and well known pieces, so that some seed of the original shone thru in the new piece and made this point clear. Using some obscure sonata that only a composition student would know, would be defeating the point.

I thought the results were very cool and interesting Margeret!!!

Yes, I know...you often get the impression that the only thing Beethoven has ever written is "Für Elise" and the first eight bars of the first movement of the first symphony, the only thing Bach did was the intro to the C-minor Toccata and the beginning of the 3rd Brandenburg Concerto, and the only thing by Richard Wagner is the intro to the third act of the first evening of "Der Ring des Nibelungen", but that choice from a class of well-educated composition students?
