Improvisation from an Outpost -- Photo Essay on Flickr

Hi folks,

I have a new photo essay, "Improvisation from an Outpost" on Flickr at

Outpost 186 (http://zeitgeist-outpost.blogspot.com/) is an intimate 
performance space about the size of a large living room located near 
Inman Square in Cambridge, MA. I frequently attend shows and also 
perform video improvisations there. Some of my videos including

I recently started bringing my still camera when attending shows at 
the Outpost, and try to take pictures with the improvisational spirit 
that I get from the music. I'm not trying to document the event -- 
just looking for interesting images that I might later use in my 
videos

I have to shoot at slow shutter speeds, and  sometimes deliberately 
push the blurred effect by taking a time exposure and zooming the 
lens during the exposure. I used image processing software on some of 
the images to add after-the-fact improvisation to some of the images.

My thanks go out to all the musicians for the inspiration and 
opportunity to take these images, and to Rob Chalfen for running the 
space. Musicians depicted are free to use these images if they wish.
