Re: Soft Step real feedback please

thats exactly what I´m doing. had to ask this question at the KMI forum first, because it´s very confusing.
standalone means without the softstep application but with or without a computer. depends if you have the MIDI expander which I don´t.

so I´m using the "standalone mode" without the MIDI expander.
once the presets are downloaded in the softstep hardware, you don't need to open the softstep application anymore!
it works fine here.

What I've seen on the KMI forums has been ambiguous about what
"standalone mode" really means.

Todd is using standalone mode with the MIDI Expander which is good news,
this is probably what most people on this list are interested in.

But there is also interest in using standalone mode *without* the MIDI
expander so you can use the SoftStep with software without having to
run their huge Max/MSP application.  People have been complaining about
the memory usage and the response was "this is what standalone
mode is for".

So if "standalone mode" means that scenes can be downloaded to the
SoftStep footswitch *without* requiring the MIDI expander then both
camps are satisfied.
