...what about the built-in Looper in Live?...
I put a LOT of time into this lopper.  Unfortunately, it is very basic and limited. 

It does sport an elegant GUI design but is missing some critical features for live looping.  For instance, though synchronized looping across multiple tracks is possible it is a huge pain in the arse-not practical and beyond the scope of many Ableton users.  Further, Multiply / Divide functions do not support odd numbers so, creating song forms where the section lengths are not even multiples is not possible.   

In general, I would say that Ableton's loop plug in is aimed first at DJs who are using Ableton's grid editor to run prerecorded tracks with a loop in sync.  Perhaps in the next revision, Ableton will give live loopers a little more love.

...saying that with my background being an absolute newbie/dummy to looping software and having just read the Mobius-documentation and played around with it as plugin to Live...
