Myself I rarely use those tools today, since they all color the sound
in some way.

I'm using Izotope RX2 Suite for mastering purposes. It's suposed to be top notch, but as Per says, all these tools ruin well done recordings. Strange enough, I have friends more 'into the business' that use to denoise every take they do. They're useful for more extreme restoration tasks, but I like to follow that old thumb rule: Take your time to record the best possible sound prints at the very first stage.

I too prefer EQs.
