Not knowing what DAW you are using it is a bit of shot in the dark to
recommend something, but in case you are using Logic you can always
make a screenset with a HUGE counter.

If using Ableton Live you could set up a bunch of dummy clips on a
track, give them different colors and set them to "switch to next
clip" on every sixteenth note... or whatever.
