Re: Live looping, 5 string viola + ableton

Yes it's an E string; I basically use it as an "easy play violin"; it's so much more resonant than a conventional violin and I use the viola C only when it's amped up.

We have a double bass festival in my home town this weekend - Frome, Somerset. Probably a bit far for you to come though?

Best

So on a 5 string is that a higher E string? Would that E an octave lower or the same as a violin high E ? Double Basses in europe always have that 5th lower string in orchestra but there are more and more players I'm seeing with a higher C string instead of a low B.

Great video, Patrick!
