The small screen was never an issue, for me at least.
I remember it being easy to program, and the screen was only for bank 
number otherwise.
If you ever want to control a looper with it there's too much
latency, but for what you're asking it would be fine.

..mind you, I have one I want to get rid, to be fair it's also
big and has all those expression pedal functions you don't need.
