I'll chime in here with my feeble 2 cents. I think the FTP is fantastic. Perhaps my expectations are not as high as those of others. I want a MIDI guitar device to enable me to easily enter MIDI data for the purposes of composition. Eliminating a few transients after the fact doesn't bother me.  For me, with the FTP there is a significant improvement in tracking and very low latency. This is at home with an i7 running at 3.40Ghz and 16MB of RAM. I do NOT use the sounds that come with the FTP - instead I am driving a variety of soft synths runnning in Cubase. I am presently setting up my now ancient laptop to see how the FTP works with its  Bidule/Mobius "cabling".


I've got a Casio MG500, several guitars with the RMC pickups, had a couple of Godins with their factory-installed system (sold because I wasn't fond of them as GUITARS) , and a Graphtech-equipped PRS archtop.... so lots of history with systems for comparison. Sidebar - in the late 90s a very respected guitar tech in the Delaware Valley refused to discuss putting an RMC system on my Les Paul, as he regarded the idea as blasphemy. I now use it with the FTP, which was incredibly easy to install in a totally reversible manner.  


I do have one beef with the FTP- the patch settings for dynamic sensitivity are not saved, so I set that anew for each session.  


I should also qualify my support for the FTP by mentioning technique. I rarely play with a pick now, having gravitated back to fingerstyle grounded in classical technique. When I do play with a pick it is because I'm aiming for raw or speedy (I can't say I get too close to the latter), and if I use the MIDI data from doing so then I don't expect it to be anything but sloppy.


One last point - I've had a few communications with Fishman that have made me think they really care about this product, so feedback to them might result in improvements.

Charles are you using the included sound bank or attempting to drive a mother synth engine, from say, the sound bank in Ableton Live? I have been setting one up for a friend as well and the included sounds, which  according to Danielt Thomas,is where the real development money was spent, and are much more optimized to track guitar and less prone to the issues you described, Does this ring true for you? Tip for guitar synth users set your pitch bend to 12 semitones if you want guitar like response. Any sound that is chromatic will give you nothing but trouble handling glissandos and vibratos.

Bottom line: Everything that has ever sucked about MIDI guitar is still rampant on this thing.
Doesn’t track vibrato.
Very picky about tuning (plenty of semitone “accidentals” spontaneously generated).
