Re: history of looping question: Live Looping Day

4/10/2005 was also "International Live Looping Day" according to the
certificate on my wall.

Ted's suspicions appear to be 100% spot on

Tyler,

I suspect that since the latter week or so of October — every year since the very early
years of the millennium — has been the time around which Rick Walkers’ Y2K?
Loopfests occur in Santa Cruz, that that day and announcement have something to do with that.

Almost if not every year during that festival, Rick has somehow able to
entice the mayor (or some other city official) of Santa Cruz to appear one
night at the event and declare International Live Looping Day and present
official certificates honoring the headliners of the multi-day long show.

If International Live Looping Day was posted about on the LD list only ever on that one
day — Oct. 21, 2006 — I am greatly surprised, because it happened pretty
much every year I was there (and I was there for all of them in the beginning, both as a
performer and audience member).

I was just curious, I have a loopfest album from 2006, I believe it's
a recording from the Y2K6 loopfest, that mentions October 21 as
International Live Looping Day. However, this was apparently only
celebrated once; in 2006. What exactly is International Live Looping
Day? Did it only happen once, never to happen again? It seems like it
would have happened again in 2016, if the anniversary of Looper's
Delight is indeed the reason for its existence. But it appeared to
happen in 2006, and then it never happened again. Will you clarify
what Live Looping Day is and why it only happened once in history? I
almost asked this question in 2012 but I decided to wait to see if it
would happen in 2016, and it didn't, but now I'm remembering the
question.
