Re: OT: iPad Sample Playback App Recommendations

I don't know much about them, but you might try looking at "soundboard" apps.

Subject: OT: iPad Sample Playback App Recommendations

Hello,

I have a guitar-based live setup that uses loops triggered from an Infinity Looper plus a drum machine, various effects, etc... and I've found after playing a couple shows that there is bound to be some 'dead air' between songs while I dial up the next loop and pedal presets, etc...

So it occurred to me that it might help a lot if I could trigger a sample (for ex - sound effects or nature sounds, etc...) between songs as desired to keep the sound going while I prepare the next song. All I really need is the ability to access somewhere between 8 - 16 samples on the iPad screen with the ability to easily tap which sample I want to trigger.

I was initially looking at hardware such as the Akai MPX8 and MPX16. But then I realized this loop triggering scenario would ideally be mounted to a microphone stand so I can quickly trigger a sample after the song has finished. And it doesn't appear there is any ready-made mounting solution for those products (feel free to enlighten me if this is incorrect!).

So this led me to considering an iPad (either standard or mini), since there *are* good solutions for mounting an iPad to a microphone stand. I've done some initial research into app options for this on iOS, and have found some promising possibilities...

But I also notice that most of the similar types of questions on this topic are from 4 or 5 years ago. And I'm wondering what the current thought from this community might be.  Again, I just need a very simple sample triggering app where I can load up my iPad with samples and then have a palette in front of me while playing live that can easily be triggered as desired.

Thanks for any input on this!
