Looping Gear:	My current looping setup includes the following: Boss DD-20 Giga delay, Electro Harmonix Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai, Digitech Hardwire DL-8 Looper, Line 6 Verbzilla, Korg Kp3 and KP Mini. For the older Malamutant recordings, I played my Lap Steel using Shubb Pearse SP-1 and SP-3 slides, a String Sizzler, a Jellifish tine pick, an Heet Sound PlusEBow, various Dunlop and homemade picks, vibrators, homemade slides and cheap (additional) pickups.
Influences:	Robert Fripp, Aube, Keiji Haino, Masonna, Ilpo Vaisanen, Masami Akita, David Myers, etc.
Musical Style:	Experimental Electronics, some rhythm-based stuff, but I like to keep my loop-based music on the hypnotic drone tip.

Back in 2005, I recorded a great number of loop works under the name 'Malamutant'. The only rule I tried to follow was to not use any synthesizers (guitar synths excluded). I'm currently continuing the project, this time using only software instruments, preferably sourced from handheld devices like the iPod Touch or Nintendo DS. Whenever samples are used, they are usually taken from soft synths (String Studio, Synplant, etc.), or treated field recordings. Here's a review of an older synth-based loop set: David Kristian at the 5th edition of the Mutek festival, Thursday June 3rd, 2004 at 8:30 pm, at Ex-Centris - 3635, St-Laurent in Salle Cassavetes. Loop-based performance using the Korg Electribe EMX-1 playing various prepared drones which were crossfaded with an Encore Electronics Knobby MIDI controller, and further processed then looped by a Line 6 DL-4. Review: MUTEK 2004 :: Maturing Mutations JUNE 3RD - 8:30PM @ EX-CENTRIS 'The atmosphere was prepared for a whole evening of stealth sounds and kicking the night off aptly was the shining light of the Montreal scene, David Kristian. Well known for his unabashed risk-taking and penchant for the darker side of what moves people he penetrated the room with a deep, buzzing void, a full half-hour of broad spectrum blur drone that he cordoned like a squeaky wheel of steel. Slowly over time burning out, breathing, and airing something of a fierce floatation above the seated space. His playing was chillingly eerie, taking hold of the body in a state of something a bit transcendental as if he was devising a way for a momentary transport to some ghostly hollow subway of concrete barrenness.
