I started looping when I got fed up with trying to make my schedule work with a variety of other busy musicians. Also, I realized that if I began writing and working as a solo act, I could practice whenever I had a few minutes instead of waiting on others to free up their schedules. When I learned about the jamman's capabilities, it seemed like the natural thing to do. I usually begin the loop with the drum machime and guitar or harmonized violin, then I add bass, and then a melody or solo line.
I released my first solo CD, 'Freeway', in November, 1998. I have been promoting the recording mostly by performing at DC and Baltimore area Borders Books and Music Stores. I have also been performing at numerous local clubs and recitals. Smooth Jazz, 105.9 in DC has been featuring several cuts from the CD on their 'Sunday Brunch.' Simple Gifts was completed in the summer of 2004 and I am currently promoting that project.
In additon to my performances, I am an Artistic and Educational Specialist for D'Addario Strings. I do educational and retailer clinics all over the United States for them. I also endorse Coda Bows and Zeta Violins. I utilize the Jamman or Echoplex in all of my demos.
In addition, I teach Recording Technology at the North Carolina School for Science and Math and used to be Director of Orchestras at a large high school in the suburban DC area. I also own and operate Trauma South Studios, a small recording studio in Durham, NC. I perform every Friday night during the warm months at Divine's Sports Bar in Durham and frequently at other restaraunts in the Triangle Area using looping as a key component of my solo performances.
I am available for performances, bookings, and recording and engineering at Trauma South. Feel free to contact me via e-mail.
