Musical Style:My Live Improvised loop pieces run the gamut from electronic to classical to singer/songwriter with piano. I am strictly a keyboard player. My loop pieces are always composed/improvised on the spot, for better or for worst. Good example is -War Signs- posted on my website right now. Warning: it is 41 minutes, 39mb.
Recordings Available:-War Signs- will be available in pristine CD form soon. Another CD of more 'commercially-accessible' songs will be out shortly after that. All titles will be under the name 'Estel'.
There are basically two very large styles of songwriting I do. One is simply to start with a set of nice custom keyboard sounds I have programmed on the Kurzweil (but -always- with at least something resembling an acoustic piano, my first love), and I begin playing. What I play becomes looped off and on, and sometimes is subtle, sometimes in your face. Whatever comes out comes out. A good example (eh... a LONG example, too) is -War Signs- on my website. The only thing I dubbed was I did a second pass of 45 minutes right after improvising vocals. What you hear is otherwise completely live and inspired by the moment, which incidentally was about 3 days into the Iraqi war.

The other more traditional songwriting I do is more singer/songwriter stuff. Some of it is instrumental and electronic, other more intended to be played live with a band (but I frequently cheat and use drum loops for lack of a good drummer at 3am!). I work methodically at these kinds of songs and spend time tweaking sounds and arrangements.

I have actually done the soundtrack to a few films, some TV commercials, and so on. Not enough to pay the bills but I love it all too much to stop doing it ever. Give me a Piano and I would be happy....
