My goal in looping is to sound like myself and not like the big three--Fripp, Torn and Frisell. I've listened to their music for so many years, that it's fairly easy for me to imitate the techniques that they use. I would like to develop a body of personal and original techniques and fuse them, in a compelling way, with compositions and improvisations that immediately identify me as the sole source. The tricky part is identifying how to achieve this goal. Perhaps I should stop listening to anyone else's music. Perhaps I should cloister myself with my gear and deny myself from playing anything I already know. Any ideas? Mark Kata Mark@asisoftware.com
