Sounds like that old Erik Satie thing about music written to mingle with the sounds of the knives and forks... or Eno's comments in the notes to Discreet Music where he talks about accidentally setting the volume too low when playing some harp music, and then realizing that the other sounds he was hearing could be experienced in much the same way as the music; a new way of listening...
