Digitech Rds 7.6 question

Hello all,
I recently picked up this unit, and I have a few questions about it. 
FIrst, 
is there any way to eleminate the pause between each sample. (loops)  
Second, 
what does the toggle switch do? (the thing that enables you to select the 
dely sample mode and the normanl trigger sample mode?
