Multi-track to Computer

Hi all,

This is not directly about Looping, but if anyone knows the answers, 
they're
probably on this list ;-)

Has anyone dealt with transfering audio tracks from a digital multi-track 
(such
as a Roland VS-880 or 1680, or ADAT) to a PC via optical or S/PDIF ? Do 
such
multi-track devices have a procedure for exporting each track separately - 
I did
notice that WaveLab mentions "receiving multiple samples" .. is this the 
way
it's done, and do the MTs support that format?

Just trying to get a feel for how easy/hard this will be, and if certain 
devices
are better than others for this task.
