>Metallica or Britney Spears (2 of the most traded >mp3s) Haha, that's another reason why I support the free music cause. Hopefully, when people realize that Metallica and Britney Spears albums are now singles with about 80% filler to make a full CD, they'll start to look for artists who make "art" rather than "commodity for sale". >To top it of, Lars says: "We take our craft -- whether it be the music, > >the lyrics, or the photos and artwork very seriously, as do most > >artists," "It is therefore sickening to know that our art is being >traded > >like a commodity rather than the art that it is." > I remember hearing somewhere that a short while ago, the RIAA was actually going to try to start charging radio stations for playing music by RIAA-involved artists. After all, the radio stations were profiting off of other peoples' art and the "Artists" (Record execs) weren't making one red cent from radio airplay. I was crossing my fingers and hoping that they'd actually do it. That way, independent musicians (who still have to earn their fan base) could have offered their music to radios for "free", thereby destroying the music industry as we know it.
