No, I have not been able to substantiate this story, hadn't even heard it.  However, I use my Kyma live for shows all the time.  Generally speaking, it is very, very stable.  Can't say I NEVER crashed it, but it's a heck of a lot more stable than most any of my other applications... MUCH more stable.
