Maybe if you set up one of those free accounts like Hotmail or Yahoo and ONLY used it for a list subscription... (Just periodically delete your whole queue.) That way you could read the archives, and if you chose to post, you'd be subscribed with an address that you wouldn't have to spend any time checking.
