Re: Loopers-Delight-d Digest V01 #301
Hi Everybody:
I am new to looping. I am
a bass player and am following after Victor Wooten's example in using loops
during live performances and layering bass grooves and riffs for a total
musical performance out of a bass guitar. I am considering purchasing
either the Lexicon Jamman or the Gibson/Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro and
have been researching these two units with resources I found yesterday
on Loopers-Delight.com. It seems that the Gibson Echoplex is the
way to go, since it seems to be generally recognized as a superior looper
and it is still in production, whereas the Lexicon Jamman has been out
of production for some years now. I am sure both units are excellent,
but it is a difficult choice to make not having had any hands-on experience
with either of the units. If anybody has any comments or advices
on choosing between the Lexicon Jamman or the Gibson/Oberheim Echoplex
Digital Pro, please let me hear from you. Also, if anybody has any
great looping tracks they have created that would be great for a bass player
to do a free form jam to like Victor Wooten does, please let me hear from
you. I have a Roland R-70 Human Rhythm Composer/drum machine with
which I have created a couple of suitable tracks to jam to, but I don't
want to take the time to become a creative genius with a drum machine (I
want to concentrate on sharpening my improvisational skills on the bass
guitar.) I look forward to hearing from some of my fellow loopers
out there. Perhaps I will also be able to pass along a tip or two
to some fellow guitar/bass loopers. Yours truly, Ron Smith, Louisville,
Kentucky.
