I have no formal technique in tablas at all, but I love the
sound of the tabla models on my wavedrum, it's one of my
favorite patches.  Very expressive and dynamic.  You can even
scoop with your palm of your hand to get that low frequency
waaOOMP tone (did I mention I have no formal training in tablas?
:-)

And there's no need to mic it! ;-) hehe
