definition of "LOOPING"

I was wondering if anyone may be interested in helping to write a simple less than one page explanation of looping?

I want to find some way of conveying without a video or CD to a venue of what it is that is done and why it may appeal to an audience...

I think that a well worded explanation would help do the trick.

       (I myself am not very well worded)
