digital camera for tour documentation

I would be very appreciative if someone
could recommend me a particularly excellent
deal on a digital camera.

I'd like 3.0 megapixels and, hopefully under
$300.

I know in audio there are some screaming good deals
(the art tube preamp as an example).......is there such
a thing in the digital camera world?

I've got to buy one before I leave for Europe on Tuesday.
