no. you go to TempoSelect and dial the tempo you want on the echoplex (or set it from a preset where the tempo has been stored). Then you have the Echoplex send a startsong message to start the drum sequencer, by doing the SetTempo with a press of Undo. The drum machine will start and be in sync with the echoplex clock. Then when you want, record your loop and it will also be in sync with the clock.
