EDP MIDI Problems?/Repeater As A Live Looper

Hey,

What's the general consensus on the EDP synced to MIDI?  I saw some 
posts about people having troubles with this.
Does MIDI not work at all?
I was thinking about getting an EDP and syncing it with a Korg drum 
machine.

I'm also thinking about the Electrix Repeater, but how good is it as a 
Live Looper?

Could I hook up a Behringer MIDI Foot Controller for example and 
control Pitch, Speed, and Jump between tracks live?

I'm also wondering if I can layer parts over one loop right away with 
the Repeater like I can with my Line6 Pedal.
