  This is just a guess, but it sounds like the press of next loop itself is
getting quantized to the cycle, since you've got quant set to cyc.  So when
you press it once, you're fine, and the loop changes over on the cycle
point with the switch quant param, and since you're only going to the next
loop, you're fine.  When you try to move to loops other than the next in
the series, the presses are still being themselves, quantized, from the
quant param.  
  Try moving from loop 2 to loop 3 in the same way you did from loop 1 to
2, and see what happens.  As I said, this is just a quick guess, -best of
