* The once mighty MP3.com has finally fallen and will be closing its doors December 2nd. The next two weeks will be your last opportunity to play our Ambient Ping "Station" there, with *lots* of music by Ambient Ping artists. If you have a fast connection click "HiFi Play" in the top cloudy section to get a 128Kb stream. (The mp3s are also available for free download - just give them a fake e-mail address to avoid future spam potential.) http://www.mp3.com/stations/theambientping This weekend is also the *last* chance to buy "DAM" CDs through MP3.com as that resource will be shut down Monday. Albums by many excellent ambient artists may never appear again in other formats, so I'd like to recommend you check out some works by: Numina - http://www.mp3.com/Numina Mara's Torment - http://www.mp3.com/MarasTorment Falling You - http://www.mp3.com/FallingYou and follow their Links to discover other fine artists while you can. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This Tuesday Nov. 18th - Mara's Torment + Hypnotech 3 and General Chaos Visuals rik maclean of Mara's Torment returns to the PiNG for what looks to be his last show for 2003. Drawing from fever dreams and isolation, he'll be debuting new tracks from a forthcoming release in 2004, along with a few older reworked pieces appropriate for the setting. Lighting will be provided by General Chaos Visuals who have done spectacular work for various AMBiENT PiNG shows in the past. http://www.corpusnet.com/torment http://www.generalchaosvisuals.com Canadian pulsebeat pioneers Hypnotech 3 return for their fourth performance at The Ambient Ping. This time, they bring with them a new piece specifically "composed" for the occasion - a 50-minute ode to mid-70's Tangerine Dream, with all the pulse-sequencing madness you'd ever want. They will also be bringing CDrs of their upcoming live CD "Roswell Wreckage", containing tracks from their last two performances at the club. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/hypnotech3.htm Between Sets CD - "with a million tear-stained memories" by black tape for a blue girl ( 2003 - Projekt) A double CD collection of works, split into a Vocal disc and an Instrumental disc - which we'll be featuring. "Trancension 1:Live 2002" by Numina "Trancension 1:Live 2002" is the first installment in a 3 disc collection by Jesse Sola documenting rehearsals for a recent live performance. The first three long form pieces on this disc explore beautifully synthesized darkness, while the last track is subtle tribal ambience sure to delight those of you who appreciate a little beat. Longtime fans of Jesse's work will be swept away by the beauty of this disc, while newcomers to the Numina sound will see why Jesse has become one of the brightest new talents in the ambient genre.
