I guess they've been keeping track of the prices for the originals on eBay. Difficult to imagine that $800-1000 is representative of the actual production/development costs, unless they've added in a bunch of new features. Like, an elf that lives inside the box who hops out and sets up all your gear while simultaneously deodorizing the room and feeding the parking meter.
If the Manecolooper guy can sell them for what--$500, the EH price is puzzling.
