IMO, even if the unit was priced at $500, there are
other alternatives that could the same for less.

Maybe--but that older, affluent crowd seems to be more hung up
on Hendrix/Robben Ford/Larry Carlton type tones--just scan a few issues of
Vintage Guitar. The EH-16 appeals more to the mad-scientist crowd. Now, if it
was yet another TS-9/Fuzz Face/Clyde Wah clone, the money starts pouring
in...
