Hi

I have recorded a lot of live music (certainly very
noisy!) and a brilliant and extremely cheap method is
to use a recordable minidisc machine WITH a Sony ECM
stereo microphone.

Just make sure you can set the recording level on the
minidisc machine, and that you get the right Sony
microphone: I use an ECM MS907. Theres a more
expensive ECM MS957 which apparently lets less noise
from handling it get into the actual recording but the
cheaper mike is fantastic .

(the fact its stereo is a lot of fun too, I recorded a
practice recently and listening to it back on decent
headphones you can place the musicians around the
room.. drums on the left, me in the middle.. on the
right my Da coming in to tell us its time for
lunch..!)
