Agreed. Customer satisfaction and loyalty, two traits that distinguish the most successful and well respected companies in the world, are obviously not in Gibson's charter and overall business plan. The sad thing is that the customer need is being delivered to them on a silver platter, but they are playing politics. Gibson has some of us at a disadvantage for the time being, because they lack a viable competitor that can provide an alternative product with a similar feature set. However, this arrangement will only endure so long before customers settle with an alternative product, or another manufacture comes out with something new and comparable, after which EDP will die in the marketplace. Gibson can cry "middleman" all they want, but the bottom line is that their reputation is on the line. This is flat out marketing 101 poor business practice. I would encourage everyone to express their concerns using Gibson's web form: http://www.gibson.com/info/mailfeeder/indextest.html Paste the following: http://www.loopers-delight.com/cgi-bin/wilma_glimpse/LDarchive?query=EDP %3Bbackorder&errors=0&maxfiles=50&maxlines=10&.cgifields=partial&.cgifie lds=restricttofiles&.cgifields=lineonly&.cgifields=case&.cgifields=filel ist (search string on looper's delight for "EDP;backorder" K- -----Original Message----- From: Doug Cox [mailto:dougcox@pdq.net] Sent: Tuesday, May 18, 2004 7:01 PM To: Loopers-Delight@loopers-delight.com Subject: Re: Gibson and Looping--Not Over Yet? I do hope that Kim or Matthias or Andy or someone is getting these kinds of comments back to the geniuses at Gibson? There's something fundamentally flawed in what's going on with the EDP (my opinion, obviously). It seems like really bad business, or more likely, those typical disconnected, illogical, profit-draining decisions that companies start to make when they are confused about their strategy with a particular product. Read it, boys. If you're backing out of the product, then get the hell out and give someone a shot. If not, get off of your butts, pay for the machines, and then SELL THEM TO PEOPLE. Unreal.
