You can't use the Behringer as channel strips (at least not without some
serious disadvantages):

The Behringer has eight analogue (Mic XLR and Line 1/4'') inputs which
it sends to the ADAT out and it has an ADAT input which it sends to
eight (Line XLR) outputs. The analogue Mic inputs are not routed to the
analogue outputs.

Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain Pro-8

Around $230.  Has some decnet reviews.  Even has ADAT out.
