It occurs to me that a metronome which, instead of making an audible click, would flash a light could work quite nicely. I've never seen one like this commercially available; have any of you? Yes, the Boss DB-66 (about $100) has flashing lights on both downbeats and other quarter notes. Also, years ago, I used to endorse a visual midi controlled metronome years ago made by a guy locally in Santa Cruz. He went out of business but I'll bet he still has them. The coolest thing about this thing was that it had a series of LEDs in a semi circle. The LEDs would turn on sequentially, culminating in the final light turning on (that was red, a different color than the other yellow lights). The effect was like a windshield wiper where the blade would end on the downbeat of the metronome (whichever quantization you set it to). This meant that you 'saw' the light going to the beat which made it vastly easier to entrain to. A brilliant concept that was just a little too expensive for the market. I could find out if he has any left to sell. let me know at rickwalker@looppool.info offlist and I'll see if I can scare him up.
